Ella Nilsson

Ella Nilsson is a portrait and figurative artist, born to artist parents and raised in both northern New Jersey and her father's native Tehran, Iran. An Austinite since 2007, her work often explores contrast, shaped by the contrasting landscapes and cultures in her upbringing. Ella prefers working in a series, much like songs on an album, to fully explore a concept across multiple pieces. Her current series, Convex, offers a window of color into an otherwise grayscale world. Working primarily on wood panels, she uses different media, acrylic and pencil, to further emphasize that contrast.
