Rita Marie Ross
Metal, Sculpture
Artist BioWith the aid of an oxy/acetylene torch, Rita brings her 40 years of experience as direct metal sculptor into her work and turns recycled metals in beautiful sculptures. She has a bond with the natural world that you can see and feel in the fluid lines, patterns and textures she uses. Her work is about connecting to nature, to ourselves and each other. Born in OH on the shores of Lake Erie she escaped the cold and moved to Austin in the early 80’s. It was in TX that her passion was fed and developed as she found her peers of metal smiths. She is a member of the Texas Society of Sculptors and has co-owned galleries and organized studio events throughout her career. As an instructor of non-ferrous metals, Rita has taught fabrication skills to both jewelry makers and sculptors. Her work can be found in private homes and corporate collections in TX.
