Brooke Daniel
Painting
I am primarily a landscape artist, painting both en plein air and in home studio. Most recently I have been focused on exploring Barton Springs in paintings that express the light, water, color and joy to be found there at all times of year— from the solitude of sunrise swims to bright midday under the trees to night where the light sparkles on the water. The Springs is an inexhaustible source of delight for me. I feel that even after 30-plus years of swimming, observing and painting the Springs, I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I’d like to say about this living treasure. My paintings are mostly acrylic, though I enjoy working in watercolor and pastel as well. In this series, my hope is to convey in vibrant color and minimal, impressionistic detail the feel of Barton Springs as well as the joy of humans coming together to share this living space of green and light and water and sky.
